The Peoples Pantry Rural Rother
People were telling us they needed support in Rural Rother but couldn’t get to us in Ashford so we thought, lets get on the road!
We started running weekly social supermarket sessions at Hub on Rye Hill and Tilling Green Community Centre in Rye in November 2023 based on feedback from local residents.
We plan to continue and grow this service, developing a longer-term sustainable model to address food insecurity for residents in rural areas.
Mobile shop sessions
Popping by once a week, you have the freedom to choose the items you need. Starting at a donation of £1.50 for every £5 worth of items, you are able to get a maximum of £20 worth of shopping for just £6!
We work just like a normal shop, pick up a basket and make your way around selecting the items you need, then once you’ve found all you need, bring the basket to us, we will total it up and we’ll pack your items for you. Please remember to bring your own bags and also Tupperware should you wish to use our cereal, pasta, or rice dispensers. You’ll also be able to help yourself to FREE fruit and veg and FREE hygiene products.
No fuss, no hassle, no referrals, no eligibility criteria.

Tilling Green
The Tilling Green Community Centre has rooms to hire of all sizes and for any length of hire period.
Hub on Rye Hill
Opened in August 2020, Rye, Winchelsea and District Memorial Hospital built a brand new Hub for community wellbeing.
